Printing a normal webpage that isn't inside frames is easy. But, when you want to print a framed page it must first be opened in a new browser window. Otherwise the printer can become confused and make a mess out of your printed page. Don't worry there are ways around this problem.

Normally, when you arrive at a framed site, you have to do the following to open the frame of your choice in a new browser window.

Netscape Users

  1. Move your mouse cursor over a blank part of the frame you want to print and click your left mouse button to select that frame.
  2. Click you right mouse button and click "Open Frame In New Browser Window".
  3. Click on FILE/PRINT PREVIEW at the top of your browser.

Internet Explorer Users

  1. Move your mouse cursor over a blank part of the frame you want to print and click your right mouse button and click on properties.
  2. In the properties box you will see a URL. Place your cursor at the beginning of the URL and hold down your left mouse button while dragging the mouse toward you. This will highlight the URL. If the URL is really long the spot it is in will scroll. Be sure you highlight it all. Click your right mouse button and click on COPY. Click on OK or CANCEL to close the PROPERTIES BOX.
  3. Hold down the CTRL key and press N to open a new browser window. When the window opens click on the ADDRESS box at the top of your browser to highlight the URL and then hit the BACKSPACE key to delete the URL. Place your cursor over the ADDRESS box and click your right mouse button and click on PASTE. This will paste the URL of the frame you want to print in the ADDRESS box. Then press the ENTER key to open the page.
  4. Click on FILE/PRINT PREVIEW at the top of your browser.

TIP: If you are using frames it might be a good idea to place a link next to the print button for users to open your framed page before printing it.
