Special Characters

Have you ever wondered how to put © or ® in your HTML and didn't know where the information was. Well, here is a little script that will print them on a page for you. Believe it or not this information is permanently stored in your own computers memory. The only problem is that they are different depending on which font face you are using.

To get a sense of what I'm saying click on the font names below. A popup window will display the characters specific to that font.

Arial
Verdana
Teoma
  Courier New
Times New Roman
Wingdings

The way to use this is to save it on your hard drive. Then when you want to know what a particular font looks like simply load it into your browser. Then load it into a text editor like notepad or a HTML editor to change the font name. After changing the font name click on reload in your browser to see the changes. It couldn't be easier.

Here are sone special characters that only Internet Explorer users can use. You might be surprised to find a hearts, clubs, spades and diamonds suits in there. The hearts and diamonds are black but can be changed to red when placed between the font tag pair and color is set to red like these → ♠♣♥♦. - Ϩ

I do this a little differently. Here is the one I use. It has the three font faces I use the most often.
