Can't Find What You're Looking For?

• According to SearchEngineWatch.com 80% of searchers use search engines wrong. For this reason you should always take a few minutes to read the HELP file that comes with these engines. Another good page to read is better ways to search.

• Did you know that Altavista Search Engine will allow you to do domain name searches? If you are looking for a particular item at a domain name use the following method.

html+forms+tables host:www.geocities.com

• You can do this less effectively at Yahoo! Search Engine by using the following method.

html+forms+tables www.geocities.com

• Some search engines such as Yahoo! Search Engine will allow you to truncate your searches. This means that you only have to type in a few of the letters of a word and then place an (*) asterisk before or after them.

• For example, you can type in "walk*" and click on the search button. Then Yahoo! will search for words like walk, walker, walkers, walkman etc. Method two would be "*walk". The words you would get might be sidewalk, boardwalk, Norwalk, cakewalk etc. Placing the (*) inside a word will not work. Method three would be "*walk*" with an asterisk placed both before and after the word at the same time. J

Try these as well;

• www.*car.com | www.car*.com | www.*car*.com

• Another thing that will help you a great deal is to use a meta search engine like ixQuick. These types of search engines search many databases like Yahoo, MSN and Looksmart all at the same time. This is a good way to go if you are in a hurry to find something.
